Counseling & Wellness Services

Women today face many challenges, from young adulthood through mid-life and into the retirement years.  Developing personal goals, navigating difficult relationships, managing families, or coping with stress and the unexpected situations that life throws our way… Sometimes life can feel overwhelming and that’s when getting help from a counselor can make a difference.  This is especially important when you are suffering from depression or anxiety, or when symptoms start to get in the way of living the life that you want.

The providers at Audubon understand that caring for women involves more than just medical care, and that emotional and psychological struggles can have an effect on a woman’s overall health and wellbeing.  Since 2013, Jen Urban and Lori Badach have partnered with Audubon Women's to provide counseling and supportive services to women.  Specializing in women’s mental health, Jen and Lori provide individual psychotherapy for a variety of issues including:

  • Depression

  • Generalized anxiety and panic attacks

  • Anxiety and depression during pregnancy and postpartum

  • Resolving relationship conflict

  • Parenting issues

  • Grief and loss

  • Managing stress

  • Anger management

  • Adjusting to life transitions

  • Coping with women’s health issues

  • Domestic violence and abuse

Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy or counseling, has been shown to be effective in treating a vast array of mental health issues, and can help resolve problems that are causing a disruption in your life.  We can help you understand and cope with distressing feelings, destructive thoughts, and the symptoms that often result. We can help you change behavior patterns that may be getting in the way of your goals.  Psychotherapy, or counseling, can help you:

  • Understand your symptoms and diagnosis

  • Develop and achieve wellness goals

  • Identify and overcome issues from the past that affect you today

  • Improve your ability to manage and cope with stress

  • Improve relationships and the way you communicate with others

  • Help you identify triggers for symptoms and strengthen coping skills to manage your symptoms

  • Understand why things in your life are bothering you and work toward positive changes

  • End destructive behaviors such as overspending, overeating, or drinking too much

Lori Badach, LCSW-R

Education: SUNY Fredonia- BA in Sociology (1998), University at Buffalo Master of Social Work (2001). Specialized Postgraduate Training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Credentials: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (with Psychotherapy “R” Privilege)
Affiliations: WNY Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders Task Force, Member of Postpartum Support International
Information about my practice: I have worked as a Clinical Social Worker since 2001.  Prior to opening my private practice in February of 2016, I worked at a local agency with children, adolescents, and families.  Since opening my  practice I have been able to focus on women’s mental health issues which have been an interest of mine since working at a GYN clinic during college and graduate school.  I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy to address issues related to depression and anxiety resulting from role transitions and both expected and unexpected situations that arise in our lives. I have also been  trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a highly effective treatment for both trauma and everyday life stressors.    I have found many women try to resolve these issues on their own and when they finally seek treatment are surprised at how much better they feel after working together to address  issues that have been causing them stress for so long. I truly believe that everybody can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives.  I am very excited to be located here at Audubon Women’s Medical and for the opportunity to be part of a team that provides the opportunity for both physical and mental health.
